Hire a project manager
Keeps the project legible: scope written down, schedule that survives contact, bad news delivered early.
Rates last reviewed 2026-08-15. A single role can sit below our blended engagement floor of $55 per hour, because the floor applies to a whole project team rather than to one person.
What this role does here
- Scope in writing, including what is deliberately out of it
- Two-week increments with something you can see at the end of each
- Weekly reporting short enough that it gets read
- Risk raised while it is still cheap to act on
When you need one
More than a couple of people are working, or the project touches several teams on your side and the coordination has quietly become somebody second job.
A written scope both sides agree with, and a plan whose first two weeks are detailed and whose later weeks are honest about being estimates.
How the engagement works
The same terms as any other project with us. Nothing on this page is a different contract.
The contract is with our American company, whoever does the work and wherever they sit.
You meet the person before the engagement starts, and they stay on it.
Time and materials with a ceiling you set, or a fixed price for defined scope.
Code, design files and accounts transfer to you. 30 days of defect fixes after handover.
Where this role usually works
All servicesWeb platforms, internal systems and mobile apps built to run in production for years, not to demo well once. We take the product from a written scope to a deployed system with monitoring, backups and a team that can hand it over.
System design, cloud migration and the unglamorous work that decides whether a product survives its second year: boundaries, data flow, cost, observability and the ability to deploy on a Friday without holding your breath.
Questions about this role
Do small projects need a project manager?
+
Usually not, and we will say so. Under a certain size the engineers report directly and the management hours would buy nothing you cannot see yourself.
Is management billed on top of the team?
+
It is a line in the estimate like any other, at the published rate, and you can see exactly how many hours it is. Nothing is hidden inside an engineering rate.
